Congratulations to GTK's new international graduates!

The biggest international cohort so far (29 students from nearly 20 countries) has recently graduated at the Faculty of Economics. R Aula saw a huge crowd of graduates, family, and friends on 7 July and not even the rain prevented the happy party from celebrating our students’ impressive achievement.

Around 150 people filled R Aula, the Quadrangle, and the Student Lounge to celebrate GTK’s newest graduates on a rainy afternoon at the beginning of July. The event followed the by-now typical schedule of international graduation ceremonies at ELTE GTK: farewell speeches made by the Vice-Dean for International Affairs, the representatives of the graduating and the next cohort, and of the Student Union, the handing over of the diplomas, and the traditional throwing of the mortar boards. The ceremony was concluded with a cheerful reception of local and international delicacies.

Professor Gábor Zemplén, Vice-Dean for International Affairs

This summer, however, the event was particularly memorable and personal because not only one fresh graduate made a speech, but several others decided to join him to say a few words of farewell and thanks to their family, friends, teachers, the International Office, the Faculty, ELTE, and Hungary, and also to highlight the best memories of the past 7-8 semesters. Most graduates fondly remembered how the struggles of the first days of being lost in a new place and in a completely new language gradually gave way to feelings of “being at home”. And now they are leaving but they will take GTK, ELTE, Budapest, and Hungary with them wherever life is taking them: on to a new university in Budapest, a new job here, or either of these in yet another country. The experiences that helped them grow from 18-year-old pupils to mature graduates will certainly make it easier for them to adapt to whatever awaits them in the future.

ELTE GTK is proud to have been part of their journey to becoming responsible and mature young professionals. We congratulate every graduate and wish them success and happiness in their new life!
